Today we are preparing the servers for their initial Cardano (ADA) testnet deployments on Ubantu 23.
Currently there are 4 ESXi host servers:
- 2.2GHz Atom SOC
- 32GB Mem
- 5 x 1GB nic
- 2TB SSD storage
Note: SOC architecture is supported up to ESXi 7.0U2. It cannot be upgraded to ESXi 8.x (but that’s okay).
These servers will house the important infrastructure virtual machines, such as:
- DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, SFTP, NTP, KMS, vCenter, Cloud Data Collector, and Skyline (for now).
The workload servers:
- 2.6 GHz x 14 cores Intel Xeon 6114 Gold
- 384 DDR4 Mem (Max 1.5TB)
- 2 x 10GB nics
- 2 x 1 GB nics
- 1 250GB SSD
- 1 2TB NVME
These servers will run the Nodes and Relays for Cardano and Rocket Pool.
Although centralized storage is needed for some functions (such as HA, witness/quarum, and heartbeat), it is not currently setup today. Hopefully a simple ISCSI server doling out a few GB on a 1GB line will be suffcient for everyone.
Networking is straightforward. 2 managed switches connected to a Wifi Bridge. Spanning tree is off. The bridge is connected OTA to the wifi router.
Both switches are using TP-Link Omada Control Plane. 1 switch is 24 port 1GB and the other is 8 port 10 GB.
There is still alot left to do before we can switch to mainnet.
We have to:
fix unrecognized storage issue
